Student Pubs

Since Glasgow University is near the West End, this is the hotspot for student revelry. Ashton Lane and Byres Road are often filled with students. The West End is popular, as well, because of the numerous festivals that take place here, especially in June. The West End becomes the venue for a variety of entertainment, from Samba dancing to comedians with hilarious skits.

What’s more, since the city has four university unions who like to frequent the Royal Exchange Square, things can get fairly lively at nights. Amongst the university unions is Strathclyde Union, which is the biggest and best organized UK student union.

The students from the universities of Strathclyde and Glasgow Caledonians usually frequent the Merchant City districts while students from the Glasgow School of Art tend to cluster around the west of Sauchiehall Street.
